During the month of February, we teamed up with Rode Microphones, Anton Bauer and Manfrotto to give content creators a chance to win some “on-camera confidence.”
We asked artists to show their personality and creativity by submitting a flat lay style photo of their camera kit (and boy did they deliver).
With hundreds of submissions to choose from, we’re taking the time to highlight 44 outstanding images and congratulating Renārs Vilnis, our Let’s Get It On-Camera contest winner!

“These are two of my favorite film cameras! First my trusty Rolliflex Sl35, German made with the lenses that really make this camera come alive, the Schneider-Kreuznach 35mm f2.8, 50mm f1.8, and 135mm f3.5. I simply love this camera, so easy and intuitive to use, it shoots like an extension of my hand. Then there is my first foray into rangefinders, my wonderful Canon G-III QL. Its so small and light and produces great images. I carry a Sekonic Studio Deluxe III light meter to get a feel for where I should be on my exposures. I also keep a multi tool on hand as I sometimes have had to tweak my camera a bit to keep it going, sadly, but they are as old as I am and sometimes need a little help… I am a film buff, I even earned a degree in film making, and the movie stub is what I last saw- The Hateful Eight on glorious 70mm! This should, I hope, explain Mr. Spock hanging out there. I took him to work and brought him home in my backpack with my cameras the other day, he isn’t a regular in there, but happened to be there as I unpacked my bag for this shoot. Then there is the CineStill 50 and 800 film rolls. Such character, I love shooting on repacked motion picture film! I always have a camera with me, and my iPhone is what I have with me most if not all the time. Thats my lock screen image, and my favorite eye color! When I am out walking the streets of Seattle I will have music playing from my phone in my headphones to keep mind distracted so I can just see what is happening around me and try to find those special moments. Now the T-shirts are not usually in my bag, but rather on me. I have a closet full of geeky photography and video shirts, I just have to dress the part! Lastly blue and purple are my favorite colors, thus the blue light and the purple throw on the table that I bought from a man on the beach in Thailand some years ago.”
