This
is really a great product for the money and I would have been sunk
without it. It makes focusing with a lens adapter actually feasible and
accurate. It also looks really fantastic hanging off the camera; it is
an impressive piece of gear worth every penny.
From
the Canon HV20/30 to the Sony EX1/EX3 all the way to the RED Digital
Cinema camera and everything in between*, the DP1x accepts an
incredibly wide range of signals. With such features as custom overscan
to accommodate unorthodox menu sizes and others like aspect ratio
adjustment, your DP1x will display the picture you’re meant to see.

I'm
blown away by the DP1x and probably need to chill out on the rack
focusing, but things are so clear now I can hardly control myself.
Built with 6 standard 1/4”-20 mounting points right into its solid aluminum enclosure, the DP1x is easily attached to anything your camera can couple with, such as tripods or articulating arms. There’s even a mount point on top for 35mm adapter users who need the monitor flipped upside-down.
No
matter what monitor you use - contrast ratios suffer severely in bright
sunlight. Protect your eyes from the imposing glare and excessive
ambience of the sun with the optional low-profile, lightweight,
extremely sturdy click-in sunhood. Assembly takes only 10 seconds and
tear-down even less; when collapsed will fit alongside a DP1x and
battery in the optional neoprene sleeve.
This
monitor is very well built - love the case, the weight of it, and the
accessories for it. The batteries are terrific, and the sunshade is a
revelation. The costs on everything are downright fair. The monitor
shipped when you said it would, and everything has performed very well.
At last, a battery option with mobility in mind. The optional SmallHD 26Wh Battery will power the DP1x for over 2 hours, despite being about the size of a toaster pastry. Quick charging means continuous use with two batteries; one charging and one powering the DP1x. If you happen to be by a power outlet during a scene, the battery can charge while simultaneously powering the monitor.
The DP1x’s 179-degree viewing angle means screen viewing need not be straight on. Review footage in a group without the need for multiple monitors, saving precious time on-set.
